Cost is dependent on many factors, the biggest being the current condition of your classic car. The nature of classic car restoration is that it is different for each and every car. Before we can provide a project timeline, we must first get to know you — and your vehicle before we can provide an estimate.
Jax Speed Shop can provide you with an estimate. We have completed many similar projects and have a great level of experience in project planning. We can help any owner estimate the needs for their classic car or project. If you would like an estimate, the first step is to make an appointment for a Full Classic Inspection (FCI).
We do not, however, provide quotes. All classic cars are unique, and as we work on your vehicle, we will understand more of what it needs. Therefore, it is impossible to offer an accurate quote upfront.
Because we only bring vehicles into the shop that are currently being restored, you can expect a wait. Jax Speed Shop completes 2 to 3 vehicles each week — but we are unable to provide an exact time estimate for when we’ll get to your car. We are dedicated to meeting all the needs of our discerning customers. That means some vehicles take weeks to finish; some take months.
Unfortunately, no we cannot come to your location to inspect your car. Our tools and insurance are only effective at our location. In extreme circumstances, the best course of action is to review photos and possibly video chat to help determine the condition of your vehicle.
We do offer paint and body work. Getting your car running is only the first piece of really enjoying your classic model. We have the ability and team available to provide you the custom paint job you’ve always dreamed of — whether that’s returning it to its original grandeur or switching it up with something a bit more modern.
No, not at this time.
We always recommend addressing function over appearance. It must be a CAR first to be a classic car. Getting your car to drive and road test first will allow you to make any touch-ups or repairs before the car is painted. We can assist you in getting your classic car in driving shape before then helping you to address your painting needs.
Giving exact time frames is something we do not do. It is our commitment to be completely honest and upfront to all of our customers. The time a project can take is based on many factors, some of which are outside of our control. Most important is obtaining the right parts for your project. Often, this can take the most time. All customers will be updated regularly on the status of their project. We can assure you, if your vehicle is here, it is because we are working on it or procuring materials. We only accept cars into the shop that we are actively working on.
Congratulations on your new classic or muscle car! We recommend a Full Classic Inspection. First, we’d like to schedule an appointment to meet with you — and get to know your overall goals. Then, our Full Classic Inspection gets you started. Expect to pay a deposit, starting at $500. Our experienced techs will test every feature of your car, road-test the vehicle, and rack and inspect all systems on the car. After Jax Speed Shop has completed this inspection, you will receive a full, tip-to-tail health report that will detail and help determine the needs of your classic car.
A Full Classic Inspection includes a total front-to-back evaluation of your car. This includes a functional check of all systems, mechanicals, fluids, and a visual inspection by a highly experienced classic car technician. The purpose of this inspection is to give the owner the full picture of the vehicle’s current condition. This is a great starting point for a new owner or a project vehicle. You can expect to pay a deposit to begin this process.
Generally, with our classic and project cars, we ask the customer for an up-front deposit for the parts so that we may acquire all those materials as soon as possible. This can be the greatest time-saver in the project. If for some reason the project has little or no parts value, we ask for a deposit of 50% at the time we start work.
Once your project is started, you will be updated weekly. As updates roll in, you will be invited to visit our garage and see the progress in person. As the work is completed, you will be asked to make your balance current every two weeks, in accordance with the amount of work already completed.
Jax Speed Shop only accepts vehicles that are currently being worked on. If we do not have space or time to take your vehicle, you may be asked to wait while we complete another. This is in an effort to prevent collecting a parking lot full of cars. Any car in our possession will be stored indoors every night.
Classic cars are stored inside the shop under lock, key, camera and insurance. In addition, we do our best to keep your car out of rain, sunlight, or any other unfavorable condition. It is our commitment that when your vehicle leaves, it will be in better shape than when you dropped it off.
Yes, we offer a service for our serious customers that allows them to store their classic vehicle on site in our garage. For a monthly fee, which varies between $250 for basic and $500 for full service, our team will drive your vehicle each month and provide a report on its performance.

Whether you know what specific car you want or you’re just in the market, we’ll find that classic, antique or muscle car you’ve always dreamed of, educate you on what to look for, and put the right buyers and sellers together.
We can also sell your vehicle. It’s a simple process, similar to listing your house. We charge a small listing fee and store the vehicle on-site in our garage. Until the vehicle sells, we maintain the car’s upkeep, take professional photos and drive the car to area events where they’ll be seen by fellow classic car enthusiasts.
